I'm a big fan of Blast Camp . I love the fields and always have a great time.
This big game was fun but had some very frustrating elements.
Some feedback on the game below.
1-Refs were enforcing rules randomly instead of evenly. People were blind firing, dead walking, and not calling out all day. I understand refs are a limited resource but yesterday pretty much anything went. In fact one of my team mates was lifting his arm to ID himself as a red player to another red player when a ref was threatening him with ejection for dead walking. At least try to pay attention refs!!!
2-Insertions were AWFUL. Towards the end it was just a waste of paint in that last building. Reinserting people into a building that is already overcrowded was a futile exercise and poor poor game mechanic. Not to mention the fact that it was incredibly boring. Spawn points need to have a zone of neutrality around them to prevent spawn camping which is essentially what that was. Furthermore, refs were almost never present at the gate to properly gather people to the reinsertion point. Until very late in the day this was not remedied.
Again, I'd like to reiterate that I had a good time but I feel the games would go better if they were a little more organized and the rules evenly enforced. At least attempting to evenly enforce the rules and altering the scenario on the fly to make the game fun is something.
The good things about the game however were the missions and the field.
Missions were great. They add an element of urgency to the game and give small groups a defined purpose on the field other than the tired "go capture the base" mechanic.
The field as always is great. The terrain is varied and obstacles fantastic as always. I never get tired of running around out there.

Yes the starting points on field 1 both teams would have problems. We informed players to not all just up and leave your base. It would get taken over and in time won back. After it was won back players would up and leave, and only 2-4 people would remain. Then people would complain about being spawned at there base when it was there choice to all leave it. The problem was talked about over the radios all day. But it wasnt our job to keep your base clear. There were flags there that were supposed to be protected.
I am glad you guys had a great time still. And I hope to see you out there doin it up again on the next big game!

Our referees are not everywhere. I enforce rules evenly all day. The player you refer to as "identifying himself as a red player" had his marker in the air, and walking in the manner of a dead player. Put yourself in teh shoes of a blue player that may have been there and saw a player walking out of a bush with his marker in the air. First thought that comes to mind is "that player has been eliminated, and has shown this by rasing his marker in the air."
Raising your marker in the air is the universal sign for "i am out/eliminated" in paintball.
The insertions were being handled by three referees all day. There was no problem with the timing of insertions with comparison to any other big game event held across the country.
The neutral zone is something I have tried in the past, but that was impossible with a capture the flag scenario.
PROTECT YOUR FLAG!! simple concept, but it was not done yesterday. No referee can be held accountable for poor flag station management. We inserted players all over the field, not just at their insertion points.
I am sorry for any cheaters on the field, but unfortunately that has become a part of paintball we will never get rid of. Referees were placed to combat cheating, but we cannot see every corner of every room on the field. (until robot referees of course).
Thanks for all of the feedback guys, See you on JULY 15- The Battle for Baghdad!

just a coment to the gentleman who listed the complants. deadman walking isnt illegal if dont corretly. if a playing is walking by, gun down, barrel condom off, and not declaring himself out then it is perectly legal to turn and shoot players. if you think someone is deadwalking then just point your gun and ask nicely if hes in or out. i was called twice when i was dead walking before i had the chance to make a move, so i called myself out and went to be re-enserted. please dont blame the refs for dead walking unless someone is doing it wrong, because it is a legal move.(good move to if i do say so myself)
