i-books I would say are the best as far as technology wise but they are just not as compatible as they are just loads more programs out there for windows. as for a laptop, if your just using it to do work and no games, just get a dell laptop or a lower priced sony vaio.

You dont have to spend alot of cash for a decent computer for school. Just some things to take into consideration are Hard drive size 80gig +, Memory 512mb or more. Sence its mainly for school you dont have to worry about a insane video card or sound boards. I'll do some lookin around for ya. And let you know what I would get for the same reasons.

dells are decent but i would go with a toshiba. i bought one last year for around $1200 ( 100gig hd dvd duel layer burner 1gig ram ). an im sure now $1200 will get a lil bit better laptop.

i got got my new laptop, gonna be here wenesday. Dell XPS 2gig RAM, 2.0 Gig Intel 2x Core, 160 Gig hard drive and dual layer 8x dvd burner.. i don't mess around

This thread is so old, that the laptop in question has been puchased and used. It is time to buy another one. I-book 15" ftw.
